December 4th is National Cookie Day! And while the general category of cookies is hard to dislike, everyone has their own unique preferences for the best ingredients to put inside. Among those with a preference, chocolate chips stand out as the most popular cookie add-in, by far, with 51% of respondents preferring a sweet, chocolate-y bite. Nuts come in second place (18%), while peanut butter comes in third (10%).
Despite coming in third place, peanut butter fans are far from bland. This group skews male and Millennial. But these distinctions are just a first taste of what sets those who prefer peanut butter in their cookies apart from the rest.
Here’s the sweet truth about peanut butter cookie fans:
Healthy Habits: When asked if they think their eating habits are healthy, 41% of peanut butter cookie fans said ‘yes.’ That’s 13 percentage points more than those who prefer nuts.
Milk Preferences: Among dairy milks, peanut butter cookie fans lead with their love of whole milk, outpacing all other cookie fans by a minimum of five percentage points.
Streaming Routine: More than half (52%) of peanut butter cookie fans primarily watch TV via online streaming, outpacing all other cookie fans with the same behavior by at least nine percentage points.
Grocery Shopping: Peanut butter cookie fans are 16 percentage points more likely to do the grocery shopping for their home than those who prefer nuts in their cookies (70% vs 44%).
Crispy vs Chewy: Those who opt for peanut butter in their cookies are three times as likely as those who opt for nuts to prefer crispy cookies.

In the realm of cookies, peanut butter fans are far from ordinary. This group has distinct culinary preferences that extend beyond the baking sheet, highlighting their self-reported adherence to a healthy lifestyle and their desire to be engaged with household food shopping overall.
