A wine cork can make or break the wine-drinking experience. While some wine drinkers ditch their cork right away, others prefer to hold onto it as a keepsake. In fact, 27% of Americans save their wine corks (among drinkers 21+). Millennials in particular are fans of holding onto corks, outpacing all other demographics by at least 20 percentage points in cork saving. However, this demographic data is just the beginning of what sets cork savers apart from the rest.

Here is the data on how cork savers compare to those who do not save their wine corks:

Car Karaoke: More than half (58%) of those who keep their wine corks say they sing in their car ‘all the time,’ compared to just 20% of non cork savers who say the same.

Leaving the House: Those who save their corks are nearly twice as likely as those who do not save their corks to say their desire to leave the house has increased (29% vs 17%).

Buy Now, Pay Later: Cork savers are 18 percentage points more likely than non cork-savers to have used and liked buy now, pay later programs (29% vs 11%).

TV Time: Those who save their corks are seven percentage points more likely to watch television in the early evening, from 4pm to 7pm, than those who do not save their corks (28% vs 21%).

Video Games: Cork savers are nearly twice as likely as non cork savers to play video games weekly (27% vs 14%). They’re also seven percentage points more likely to play them daily (27% vs 20%).

Those who save their corks aren’t just fans of quirky momentos, they’re unique consumers who have strong opinions. From how they spend their free time to how they make purchases, cork savers are clear about what they want–beyond the wine bottle.
